As a native to the city of Austin, my heart lies in this city. I’m a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin (Hook’Em!) and hold a dual Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Spanish, and Communications Sciences and Disorders and a minor in Business Administration and Biology. I also hold a Masters in Counseling from St. Edwards University, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. For the last 22 years, I have worked within the pediatric population of Austin, specializing in developmental therapy with an emphasis on speech and language therapy in children with a disability or delay. My past work with families, couples, and children has taken me to every part of the Austin metro area and has allowed me the privilege of working with a diverse population from all walks of life. These daily experiences have provided a depth of insight into the trials, tribulations, and triumphs that a family experiences throughout their journey and have helped shape me as a clinician. As the daughter of entrepreneurs and a first-generation American, I have a strong understanding of how the family of origin culture and dominant societal cultural affects professional and personal relationships. Because of my mom's insistence (thanks mom!) I am bilingual with native proficiency in Spanish and conversational fluency in Italian and French. Within the city, I am involved in numerous community organizations and church ministries. My service to these organizations is driven by my, slightly selfish, wish to improve our community and leave it a little better than when I arrived here. The only downside to Austin, in my humble opinion, is that it lacks ocean access. Yes, the lakes are wonderful, but nothing beats playing in the ocean waves and scuba diving beneath the surface. Because of the lack of ocean, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places. The more remote, off the beaten path, the better. I love exploring new cultures and finding the commonalities we share with other human beings across this planet. However, I can’t stay away for too long, or my cat will start to pursue other ownership. When at home, you can find me reading at coffee shops, volunteering with the The Junior League of Austin, Leadership Austin, and Texas Exes. On sunny days you’ll find me paddling Town Lake (aka Lady Bird Lake), exploring the visual and performance arts, sporadically participating in triathlons and cycling events, and practicing my photography skills. My favorite forms of self-care involve napping in my hammock room, spending quality time with my husband, running after my two young children, spending time with family and friends, and making homemade jam.
